Top 25 Overwatch Memes

Let’s take a closer look at the 25 best Overwatch memes, listed in no particular order!

As with any other incredibly popular video game which became a part of pop culture, Overwatch is ripe with fantastic memes and community content.

The many peculiar interactions and idiosyncratic moments in-game definitely inspired millions of players across the globe.

Some of them decided to grind and climb the ladder; others, however, decided to create memes. And good ones, to boot. You don’t have to be a hardcore player to really appreciate the humor.

Top Overwatch Memes

Overwatch dead game

The “Overwatch dead game” meme has been around for almost as long as the game itself. Not everyone is in love with Blizzard’s original IP and those who oppose it are incredibly vocal.

These skeptics have been predicting the end of the game for years, and yet Overwatch keeps chugging along at a steady pace.

It might not be as popular as it was in the beginning, but it’s still boasting an impressive player base and is by no means a dying game.

Shanghai Dragons 0-42

The Shanghai Dragons are one of the most fascinating teams in all of esports. Upon entering the Overwatch League, they failed to mount much of an offensive.

Heck, maybe that’s even an understatement. As time went on, they simply couldn’t register a win, regardless of whom they were up against.

But even though they couldn’t get the “W”, they often displayed a fair bit of potential, which is why many fans felt that their first elusive win was always around the corner.

And yet it wasn’t. They became the first team (and quite possibly the last ever) to go through an entire season without getting even a single win.

They ended 2018 with an abysmal 0-40 record and were — rightfully, one might add — the laughing stock of the Overwatch League.

It took them over a year to actually win their first match, and once it happened, it was both endearing and surreal. Shanghai’s winless streak will long be remembered in the annals of esports history.

Shanghai Dragons — Stage 3 Champions

Shanghai’s historic failure only set the stage for one of the most unexpected and surprising twists in the history of the game.

Shanghai won the third stage of the second Overwatch League season, and they did so against one of the best teams to ever play the game: San Francisco Shock.

After barely qualifying as the last playoff team, they were able to pull off a mind-blowing miracle run with wins over the New York Excelsior (3:1), and the Vancouver Titans (4:1), before eking out a win against the San Francisco Shock in a spectacular Best of 7 that went the distance (4:3).

While they failed the replicate their level of play in the fourth and final stage of the season, their monumental triumph was certainly one of the biggest highlights of the year.

Ana and her healing

Ana is a support sniper. That’s not exactly the most cliche combination in the world in the world, but it definitely works.

The problem, however, is when you’re supposed to heal from afar and yet your teammates are moving around like headless chickens.

That’s when your job becomes ten times harder, and at times even impossible.

Fortunately, there’s always a teammate that’ll make your life easier by just standing still. When that happens, there’s no happier person in the world than an Ana main.

The Moira Conundrum

Should you heal your teammates, or dish out a surprising amount of damage?

The struggle is real with Moira.

Junkrat Skills

It’s no secret that there’s a big number of Junkrat players who just throw out grenades willy-nilly.

To make matters even worse, they’re often rewarded as Junkrat is innately capable of creating absolute chaos in the fields of battle.

Heck, you can play him blindfolded and you’d still stand a chance of landing a couple of kills.

Hanzo main

Hanzo mains often get a bad rap. It’s rare to find someone who’s actually good at Hanzo — you’re mostly just playing with folks who’d like to think they’re good at aiming and playing hitscan.

You wouldn’t, however, expect to hear it used in a pejorative way in elementary school!

GOATS Overwatch League Logo

The GOATS meta was one of the least entertaining metas in the history of the game.

If you’re a casual/hardcore player, you probably stopped playing for a while and the same goes if you were a frequent viewer of the Overwatch League.

Watching three tanks and three supports run around in circles without dying just isn’t top-tier entertainment.

It lasted a while too, which is why fans decided to have a bit of fun with the official Overwatch League logo. The GOATS League!

Reinhardt players splitting

Watching Reinhardt players charge into battle and leave their team behind is one of the most frustrating things ever.

To make matters worse, it feels like almost always die mere seconds after going in. The horror.

“I Need Healing!”

You really don’t want to get on the bad side of a Mercy player.

“It’s High Noon”

The moment you hear McCree’s ultimate voice line, you just want to end your own suffering. Those short moments before he lands a couple of lethal shots are absolutely excruciating.

A positive attitude

For the moments when you realize you’re about to get rolled over even before stepping foot on the map.

A wild wall appears…

She might look innocent, but clashing with Mei face-to-face is a fate you wouldn’t want on your worst enemy.

Some habits are hard to shake off

Run for cover!

When you hear D.Va’s ultimate, you automatically run for cover — any kind of cover!

“Mom, get the camera!”

Everyone loves getting the end-game nod for a sick play they made!

The ultimate Reaper counter

There’s nothing worse than landing a game-changing Reaper ultimate only to see everyone resurrected by the enemy Mercy. Fortunately, multi-target resurrection is a thing of the past!

A slow starter

Sometimes, you just have a bad day. Unfortunately, those days are much more evident when playing Widowmaker.

Typical Genji mains
